11 seasons and running...

I haven't watched The Biggest Loser in the longggest time. The last season I watched was in Australia I think (I used to live there - life story for another time). There really is nothing like a very large group of people - no pun intended... I think - to make you feel like you're the laziest person on the earth. Again, my life story is for another time, but I'll give you a little tidbit - I've struggled with my weight for a very long time and continue to do so, so this show has a personal affect on me. ANYWAYS, sentimentality aside I've been catching up on the current season The Biggest Loser and it's really scary to know that there are still WAY MORE than 11 seasons worth of overweight people in America, but at the same time it's really inspiring to know that this show is still attracting people and still succeeding at teaching those who do take part how to successfully lose weight.

As inspired as I am I feel like the competitive nature of the show kind of inspires unhealthy weight loss goals... Losing 100 lbs in around 7 weeks, I just feel like that's an unrealistic and kinda dangerous goal. Buuuut I also suppose if you have all of that weight to lose that it's alright. I would be afraid of the skin issues that happen after you drastically lose weight - when you're left with the saggy, leftover skin all over. Like I said, I haven't watched it in a while so I don't know if it's been an issue in past seasons. I hope not, but I guess I'm going to find out eventually when I catch up with this season. For those who have been watching it don't ruin it, at this rate I'll be caught up by Friday. I have problems. I'm aware

So, I'm on episode 8 right now - the first double elimination. Real serious stuff. There are a lot of tears on this show, I could only imagine if I was on it. I already well up just watching on TV, who knows what it would be like if I was there in person! Madness.

I like a lot of people on the show and I'm really pulling for them, but the father/son duo of Arthur and Jesse really just put a bee in my bonnet. Arthur is the BIGGEST CONTESTANT EVER and he's only lost weight in the double digits like two times! He talks a big game about how he's working so hard, and maybe this is another manufacture of editing making me feel this way, but he finally lost a huge number when they showed all of the women on their team being on his back about the food he was eating. He was asking whether he should eat a steak or sausage... ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEE?? This guy is delusional, he wanted to put cheese on his SALAD. Does this guy reaaallly even want to be there? Or understand what it means, or what it takes to take advantage of being there? His dad has been losing weight, which is great. I was annoyed with him all episode 8, but he totally redeemed himself when he gained weight in order to increase the chances of Arthur staying. They (the editors I'm assuming) made it seem like Jesse didn't really care. Then Deni sacrificed herself like WOAH by gaining 8lbs, which was prolly a little extreme and where I think the competition edge is really counterproductive. It just goes to show that the program isn't really all about losing weight, they like to say it is, but when you mix in the eliminations and advantages with challenges and stuff there comes the danger of strategy overtaking progress. Maybe there's some way they can control that or something.

This is a reality show that I would be okay with continuing on wayy into the future. This 'disease' as the doctor on the show calls it, is definitely not going away any time soon. This show is one of the only ones that actually sends a good message, a healthy message.

move over american idol

Because my new FAVORITE voice show is taking over!! I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I decided to watch NBC's The Voice, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised!! As entertaining as all of the tone deaf round 1-ers during AI are, the excitement of the families AND contestants when one of the 4 judges chairs turns around during The Voice outweighs the humor that is at the expense of the people on American Idol.

For starters, the judges - WOW. Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine?! Serrrriously?? This show had to be something good if all four of these super famous (and super sexy Adam and Blake, yummo) music stars were going to commit to it. I mean it's only been 2 episodes, which are the only blind audition episodes, but now sh*t's gonna get reeaaallll when the coaches pit their own team mates against each other. I'm definitely intrigued (and thankful that I can access shows illegally online.. heheee).

The first episode saw only 3 people getting onto each of the 4 teams, which left the second episode with 20 spots to fill total in an hour time slot. That meant that we didn't get to watch everyone who performed, while I'm ok with skipping those that didn't get chosen because I get really emotionally involved with things that I watch, I'm kinda POed that I didn't get to celebrate with all of those who got in! The editing of the show does a great job of putting me on the edge of my seat. The judges hovering their hands over their buttons and taking it away plays into the excitement of the whole thing, I'm aware of it and I'm actually alright with it. I get excited and I get emotional and The Voice plays my heart strings just right. So does Adam Levine for that matter... I'd do unforgivable things to be on his team. I'd probably have to start off by stealing someone else's voice box, but hey I warned you - unnnforgivable.

That photo may not be related to The Voice, but frankly my dears I DEFINITELY do not give a damn. At all.
Anyways. The Voice. Watch it. Love it. Tuesdays, now at 10PM. At this rate I'm going to have a favorite show every night of the week. SHWINGGG!
